Items I Always Take On A Camping Trip

Whenever I go camping I always try to take along some gear that will either make the camping trip more fun, make an easier time or a piece of survival gear that I want to test out so I can blog about it.

1) An item that makes it more fun:

A harmonica - yes that's right a harmonica can really make a neat little addition to a camping trip(if you learn how to play it of course).  Survivor Man Les Stroud is famous for taking his harmonica everywhere with him and I don't blame hime.  If you go camping or hiking on your own a harmonica could be your best friend.  Being in the woods is so quiet and just having something that makes a sound other that the sound of nature can keep you sane.

2) Make an easier time - Usually this is a nice foam bed roll, this make sleeping on just about any surface that much more comfortable.

3) Survival item - A pocket grill, this thing is absolutely awesome, it allows you to warm water, or cook items over a single burner that you fuel with twigs, paper or any other small flamable matreial.

Mice in the pellets!

I have a pellet stove(not sure how familiar you are with them), it is a stove that burns small pieces of wood that look similar to rabbit food. I store the unused 40 lb bags out in my detached garage. Last weekend while bringing them in to the house I noticed a mouse nest with a few critters in it.

I immediately came in the house and starting searching the internet for rat poison ingredients to make my own mouse poison.

I also went to my local hardware store and purchased 4 traps which I bated with peanut butter.

So far I have caught two mice and I know some of the poison has been eaten. Hopefully I will not have to deal with them much longer.

My New Favorite Passtime

Recently I have really started getting into online radio and podcasting. Local radio is ok but getting to listen to a larger variety of shows is so much better. You can find something for just about any taste.

Podcasting is also great. I often will download various podcasts onto my iphone 3g

This enables me to listen to items while I am on the go, at work or just roaming around the city.

Double Jogging Strollers

When having children one of the hardest things can be getting out to exercise. Being someone who likes to go out for a run, I was constantly in search for something that I could use that would make it easier to bring the kids along, but do so in a safe manner and be able to still run at a speed that is comfortable for myself.

I then purchased a double jogging stroller. Double jogging strollers are the perfect fit, they have secure seat restraints for my kids and they have larger wheels that move easy and are able to be pushed fairly easy.

Buying A Used ATV - Needs New ATV Tires

Recently, I decided to buy a used Yamaha Kodiak ATV from my father, we struck a pretty good deal for it even though it needed 4 new ATV tires. Doing some research online I was able to find these new tires fairly quickly. Google definitely is my best friend for bargain hunting it really is one of the easy ways to save money.

Overall I am happy as I got a good deal and my father was able to take the money and buy a brand new one.
