Filters For A Backyard Fish Pond

Last summer we put in a Koi Fish pond in our backyard, overall we were really happy with it but we ran into issues finding filters that would keep our pond environment in good condition and the fish healthy.

This site about Koi filters is just what the doctor ordered.  There is plenty of information about buying and even making your own filters for your Koi pond.

One this to be sure of is the gallon rating if you buy a filter.  If you buy too small of a filter for your size pond you will have to replace the filter frequently and it may not work properly.

Just some tips before buying or making your own filters!

Gift Ideas For College Graduation

What at the best gift ideas for college graduation?  Many parents and family friends wonder this when a relation of friend graduates from college.  Overall some of the best gifts are practical ones.

Being right out of college you are often dead broke so money is always a good thing.  If you are afraid that the college graduate may blow the money then a gift is likely the best bet.

What types of gifts are good?

1) Business clothes - since many students will go into corporate America they will need to dress well.

2) A new computer - after 4 or more years of college the old laptop is likely full of virus and spyware from the music downloads and such.  Give them a new laptop to start fresh.

Cutting Firewood

My father order a truck load of logs for next years heating season. A few weekends ago my father cut them up with his chainsaw. He is the proud owner of 2 fairly new chainsaws. STIHL Chainsaws offer a significantly powerful saw, at a fairly reasonable price.

After cutting up all the tree sections we carefully piled them so he cut burn them with the outdoor wood burner that he purchased a few years ago. He is putting a building around the outdoor wood burner to keep the wood dry and the weather off of the furnace. Since stacking all the wood he decided to make the building a few feet bigger so guess what? I had to spend more time moving the wood to make room. Hopefully the building stays the same size as I do not want to move the wood again.

Prior to moving the wood for the second time it rained fairly heavily for a few days, so needless to say the ground was soaking wet, making the job that much more uncool! I purchased new Timberland boots and unfortunately got them fairly muddy, but that is what they were bought for!

Overall it felt good to get outdoors after a long winter, so I didn't mind helping my father out.

Buying Clothing For the Vacation

In April we will be going to South Carolina and it should be significantly warmer than here in Buffalo NY. With that being said I need to buy some warm weather clothing.

I did some online shopping at OldNavy.com and Gap.com. Other than that I have been visiting the local Walmart and Target looking for some deals.

I also just purchased a new suitcase for the trip and am looking forward to using the new GPS when we set out on the long drive from Buffalo to SC. Should be a good time though!

Where To Buy Great Lamp Shades

Recently my girl friend and I have been looking to purchase some lamp shades. Going out to the local stores looking to buy lamp shades turned out to be a real ordeal. Either we found nice lamp shades with a really high price tag or lamp shades that were cheap looking with only a slightly lower price tag.

In some cases it would be cheaper to buy a whole new lamp with a nice looking shade than replace a shade on a lamp we already own.

This truly was not going to work!

I decided to take my search online and found a few great websites.

My next concern was how would they ship a fragile item like a lamp shade?

A few of the really respectable websites offer a no worry shipping guarantee. This is great to make the online transaction completely stress free.

NFL And Online Sport Betting

Recently I have been getting more interested in sports betting, especially with the NFL. Being a former football player and watching every game that is on TV I have recently become much more successful betting on games.

That combined with NFL betting software has done wonders for my success rate.

My recommendations for doing well is get some software, watch a ton of games and even the NFL Network, and look for a betting forum to hang out in an hone your skills.
